Description

A pair of shops with former dwellings above, dating to circa 1800. The buildings are constructed of brick and have a graded slate roof. They are three storeys high and each has three bays. Number 28 has a shop front dating from circa 1880, featuring a central doorway and three stilted arches with heavy moulding. Number 29 has strongly projecting console brackets to the fascia, along with slender, fluted wooden shafts and spandrel decoration in the angle of the window panes. The upper windows are 15-pane sashes in Number 28, twelve-pane in Number 29, with smaller windows to the attic storey. First-floor windows have flat-arched stuccoed heads with voussoirs and moulded keystones. Number 28 has a dentil eaves band, while Number 29 has a modillion cornice. An axial stack is located on the original property division.
