Description
The Hope and Anchor Public House is a public house built around 1800, likely designed specifically for this purpose. It features painted brick construction and a Welsh slate roof. The building is three stories tall and has three bays, with an additional bay that used to have a wide arched entry at the rear, which has now been infilled and includes a new doorway leading to a passage. The main section of the building has a central doorway that is framed by a pedimented case and a deep moulded architrave. The windows have all been replaced but are set in their original openings, featuring flat-arched stuccoed heads with voussoirs and keystones. The building is topped with a modillion eaves cornice and has stacks at the gable ends.
