Description

This is an early 19th century pair of shops located on Bartholomew Street. The buildings are two storeys high, with two windows on each floor. They have slate roofs and brick stacks. The front of the buildings is of brick construction, while the south gable is tile-hung. The windows have gauged flat brick arches and retain their original glazing bars. Number 59 has a modern shopfront, whereas number 60 retains its original shopfront, featuring pilasters supporting an entablature with scrolled ends and a projecting cornice. It also has a shop doorway with a fanlight and an altered shop window. A former passageway entrance, which led to Vine Cottages (number 61, Bartholomew Street), has now been blocked.
