Description

Molehill Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century that was restored and extended in 1976. It features a timber frame with rendered infill on a limestone rubble base, along with some limestone rubble walling. The thatched roof is half-hipped at the north-west end and has a brick chimney at the south-east end of the ridge. The house consists of two framed bays aligned north-west to south-east, with a large chimney at the south-east end. It is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers.

The south-west front elevation has all 20th-century casement windows. The ground floor features three 2-light windows, with the two smaller ones paired beneath a continuous plank weathering. There is an eyebrow dormer in the south-east bay with a 2-light window, and a glazed 20th-century door is located in the south-east bay. An attic light is present at the north-west end.

To the north-west of the house, there is a substantial 20th-century limestone extension, which is connected to the original structure by a glazed single-storey bay that serves as the main entrance. Inside, the frame is largely intact, and there is a large fireplace with a bread oven in the south-east bay, along with an elm winder staircase in the north-west bay.
