Description

Church Cottage is a house that likely dates from the late 16th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid to late 20th century. The building features a roughcast timber frame, possibly with some limestone rubble walling, and has a thatched roof that is half-hipped at the north end. It consists of one-and-a-half framed bays oriented north to south and includes a large roughcast external chimney with a brick stack located at the south end of the main bay. The house is single storey with an attic, and no framing is visible from the outside. The windows are 20th-century casements, with the main west elevation showcasing a two-light window and a single-light window on the ground floor, along with a small rectangular light on the west side of the chimney. There are attic lights in the gable ends. At the rear, there is a 20th-century lean-to with a flat-roofed half-glazed porch addition and a 20th-century door. Inside, the framing is largely intact and features some large braces across the lower corners, along with a large fireplace that remains in the south bay.
