Description
The Red House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a rest home. It was built in the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations in the mid-20th century. The building features finely jointed brick with limestone ashlar dressings and has a slate roof behind a parapet, with brick stacks at each end. It stands three storeys tall and consists of three bays, with rusticated quoins at the ends. The windows are adorned with rusticated ashlar lintels and moulded keyblocks. The outer bays on the ground and first floors have 16-pane sash windows, while the central first-floor window is a 12-pane sash. The outer bays of the second floor contain square 12-pane sashes, and there is a central second-floor window with 9 panes. The entrance is highlighted by an open pediment, with paterae reliefs in the dosseret, flanked by pilasters, and features a six-panelled door with a traceried fanlight. At the rear, there are two two-storey wings.
