Description

A war memorial of 1946, built to commemorate the First and Second World Wars.

MATERIALS AND PLAN: the memorial is constructed of sandstone and is octagonal on plan.

DESCRIPTION: the memorial stands in a small paved area adjacent to the churchyard of St Andrew's Church and consists of a tall stone cross with chamfered edges on a large plinth, which stands on a two-stepped base.

The faces of the plinth are inscribed as follows, "IN MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF/ OMBERSLEY/ WHO FELL IN THE/ TWO GREAT WARS/ 1914 - 1918/ AND/ 1939 - 1945/ THEIR NAME LIVETH/ FOR EVERMORE/ 1939 - 1945 (NAMES)/ 1914 - 1918 (NAMES)".
