Description
The Homestead is a house dating from the 17th century, which was restored in the late 19th century. It features a timber-frame structure with painted brick and rendered infill set on a sandstone and brick plinth, topped with a tiled roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with the stem extending to the east and a cross-wing aligned north to south. The main stack is located in the center of the stem, with all shafts dating from the late 19th century.
On the north front, the house has one storey with an attic. The attic is illuminated by a slightly projecting oriel located in the gable of the cross-wing on the right, while the other range has two gabled dormers. On the ground floor, there are three 2-light casement windows on the left, featuring plank weatherings, and the oriel window in the cross-wing. The entrance is situated on the west side wall of the cross-wing. The framing consists of three square panels high, and the gable truss has two struts supporting the collar, with 19th-century quatrefoil panels in the apex.
