Description
The Rock is a house dating from the 17th century, with 20th-century alterations. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, a sandstone plinth, and a tile roof. The building has an L-plan layout, with extensions to the south and west, and the main stack located at the rear of the main north/south range.
The west front has one storey with an attic, which is illuminated by an oriel window in the gable of the cross-wing to the left. There is a gabled dormer in the main range. On the ground floor, there are five windows, mostly single light 20th-century casements, and the entrance is located in the angle through a porch with a lean-to tiled roof. The framing consists of three square panels high, and the gable of the wing features two struts to the collar with V-struts in the gable.
