Description

Tudor House is a house dating from the late 17th century, which was restored after a fire in the 1940s. It features a timber-frame structure with rendered infill and a machine tile roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with a cross-wing aligned east to west and another range to the north. The main stack is located at the junction and has three linked brick shafts arranged in a six-point star plan.

The west front is two storeys high, with a gabled cross-wing on the right. There are two plus one windows on the upper floor, including a 2-light oriel window on the left, followed by a 3-light casement and another 3-light oriel. The ground floor has three plus one windows, featuring a 2-light casement on the left, two 3-light oriels, and a 3-light casement.

The entrance is at the right-hand end of the subsidiary range, leading into a lobby adjacent to the stack. It has a 20th-century doorcase with fluted pilasters and a half-glazed door. The front of the house has a shallow jetty supported by scroll brackets, and the bressummer is moulded and dentilled. The framing of the subsidiary range consists of six square panels high, with an additional narrow panel at the top. The cross-wing also has six square panels high, with lower panels featuring semi-circular cuts in the studs and rails, and upper panels with quadrant braces and nibs. The gable above has a projecting dentilled tie-beam and dentilled bargeboards.
