Description
This barn, located about 15 meters north of Thorn Dene Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century and has some alterations from the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame set on a sandstone plinth and is weatherboarded, with remnants of its original woven infill still visible. The roof is made of corrugated iron. The barn consists of four framed bays arranged in a north-south direction, with a threshing floor located just north of the center. On the east side of the threshing floor, there was originally a gabled porch, which has since been modified to include a lean-to roof made of corrugated iron. The framing includes three square panels high with straight angle braces, and the intermediate trusses feature two raking struts and a collar. The north gable has two struts leading to the collar, with curved raking struts at the apex.
