Description
Middle Farmhouse and adjoining outbuildings date from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. The buildings are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and feature plain tiled roofs, along with brick stacks at the left end and central ridge. The layout is T-shaped, with the main range consisting of three bays aligned north to south, featuring a central chimney and a lobby entrance, while a four-bay wing is attached to the north end.
The farmhouse stands two storeys high with an attic that includes dormers. On the west front elevation, the main section has two ground floor three-light and two first floor two-light 19th-century casement windows. There are also two gabled dormers, each with two-light casements. The central entrance features a door with six raised and fielded panels. The north wing, likely a former dairy and/or granary, has a west gable end with a two-light ground floor window (one light with wood latticing and the other leaded), as well as a blind first floor and attic window. It includes a first floor three-light and two-light casement, along with a door at the angle with the main section.
Attached to the south gable end of the main part is a two-storey addition that features a two-light casement on both floors and a door; the ground floor openings have cambered heads and are enclosed within a 20th-century lean-to glazed porch. The rear bay of the north wing is partly timber-framed with brick infill, displaying three rows of panels from sill to wall-plate, and it has collar and tie-beam roof trusses.
