Description
Cherry Orchard Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid to late 20th century. It is timber-framed with brick infill on a limestone rubble base, and the east end is rendered with some brick replacement walling. The cottage has a thatched roof with a brick stack at the east end of the ridge.
The building consists of two framed bays aligned east to west, with a large chimney at the east end that creates a baffle-entry plan. It is a single storey with an attic. The framing features three panels from the sill to the wall-plate on the south elevation and two panels from the sill to the wall-plate on the north elevation, with no visible trusses.
On the south front elevation, all windows are 20th-century casements with two lights. There is one ground floor window and two eyebrow dormers, one for each bay. The main entrance, located to the right, has a 20th-century door. Attic lights are present in the gable ends. Additionally, there is a 20th-century single-storey flat-roofed garage addition at the east end, which includes a garage door in its south elevation.
