Description
The Stables is a shelter shed and attached stable built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick and features plain tiled roofs. The building consists of six bays arranged east to west, open on the south-facing side with doorways in the gable ends. There are three circular brick piers on square bases, along with their corresponding king-post roof trusses; however, the two easternmost piers and trusses have been replaced by mid-20th century partition walls. The roof is topped with two gabled louvred lanterns. The stable is attached at right angles to the east gable end and consists of two bays and two levels, featuring a dentilled eaves cornice. The main east elevation includes a stable door flanked by two-light casements, all with cambered heads, and there is a loft door in the south gable end. The interior is not accessible. The Stables form a group with the nearby Farmhouse and Granary, which adds to its significance.
