Description

A former granary, stables, and shelter shed dating to the 17th century, significantly altered in the mid-19th and 20th centuries. The shelter shed was built in the mid-19th century and re-roofed in the mid-20th. The building is timber-framed on a brick plinth, with weatherboarding, brick replacement, and new walling, and has a tiled roof. It comprises two framed bays along an east-west axis, with a two-bay addition to the north elevation at the west end. The south elevation features planked double doors, a wood mullioned window, and a loft door. The east gable end includes double doors, a stable door, and a mullioned window with a hoist door and attic light above. The north wing incorporates two 20th-century brick stables, with a roof extending to form covered access between the granary and the stable block, and the shelter sheds.

The interior of the granary and stables contains double trenched purlins and queen strut trusses. The north wing has single trenched purlins and an intermediate raking strut truss. The shelter sheds are constructed of brick and tile, with timber posts dividing the bays. They consist of five bays plus four bays, incorporating king-post trusses, a raking strut truss at the main bay division, and single trenched purlins.
