Description
The Old Cottage, located about 30 yards south-west of Norgrove Court, is an outbuilding that has been converted into a house. It dates from the mid-17th century and has undergone alterations and additions in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The structure is made of handmade brick and features a plain tiled roof with a rear stack. It consists of two bays and is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers.
On the south elevation, there is a ground floor three-light ashlar splayed mullioned window, two gabled 20th-century dormers with two-light casements, and a 20th-century door to the right. The west gable end has a large 20th-century mullion and transom window, likely a replacement, along with a blocked doorway that has a cambered head to the right. The east gable end features a ground floor two-light casement with a cambered head and two ventilation slits in the gable.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is the only original surviving outbuilding associated with Norgrove Court and is prominently located near the main south front, making it particularly noticeable when approaching Norgrove Court down the main driveway. To the north side of The Old Cottage, there is a 19th-century outbuilding that has been divided into two dwellings known as The Old Workshop and The Loft, which are not of special architectural interest.
