House. c1600, restored mid-C20. Timber-framed, painted brick and rendered infill, plain tiled roof. Three framed bays aligned north/south; central bay occupied by large rubble chimney with brick ridge stack and forming a lobby entrance. Two storeys. Framing: four rows of small panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight braces at lower corners of both storeys, collar and tie-beam trusses at gable ends with two collars, four struts to lower and two to upper collar. Continuous plank weatherings at first floor level and first floor window sill level; also at tie-beam and collar level at gable ends. East front elevation: windows are mainly leaded casements. Ground floor has a 3-light and a 2-light window, first floor has a 3-light window, a square and a rectangular light; central C20 gabled porch, 2-light window to left of door in gable end and 3-light windows in side elevations. Interior: stop-chamfered main beams; back-to-back fireplaces, the north- facing one having a C17 overmantel; C17 panelling in ground floor; stair- case is altered but in original position to rear of chimney. C20 lean-to at rear. One of a group of buildings surrounding The Square.
