Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a house dating from around 1600, which was restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, a brick plinth, and replacement walling and refacing, topped with a machine-tiled roof. The cottage consists of a single framed bay that runs east to west and has a large external chimney with tiled offsets at the east gable end. It is a single storey with an attic that includes a dormer. The framing includes two and three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces across the upper corners, and no visible trusses. All the windows are 20th-century leaded casements, with two 2-light windows on the north elevation at ground level. The south elevation features a gabled dormer with a rectangular light, and there are attic lights in the gable ends. The main entrance is located at the west gable end and has a half-glazed door. Inside, there is a timber-framed partition near the west end and a large fireplace with a bread oven at the east end. Additionally, there is a 20th-century timber-framed addition that is a single bay, single storey with an attic, located on the south side and constructed partly from reused timber.
