Description
Newhouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations from the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a machine-tiled roof with parapets and stacks at the gable ends. It has two storeys and a cellar, with a moulded and dentilled eaves cornice. The farmhouse has five bays, and all the windows are cross-casements with cambered heads. The central entrance includes a 20th-century doorcase with a pediment, panelled pilasters, an entablature, and a partly glazed door. There are attic lights in the gable ends. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported that the staircase has been replaced, but the original fireplace with a bread oven is said to remain. There are 18th-century and 19th-century wings at the rear.
