Description

Sodington Hall is a house dating from the early 19th century, with alterations made in the late 19th and mid-20th centuries. It is constructed of brick with a hipped slate roof and end stacks. The house is three storeys high, with a moulded eaves cornice. It has three bays, and the windows have gauged flat heads. The ground and first floor windows are 20-pane sashes, while those on the second floor are 16-pane sashes. A central entrance features an open pediment, fluted pilasters, and an entablature, with a half-glazed door, panelled reveals, and a traceried fanlight.

Inside, a room to the front left retains original ceiling mouldings featuring fan and husk detail, and the central hall contains an open well staircase with a wreathed moulded handrail. A mid-20th century conservatory adjoins the right side of the building. The house is situated on a moated site. It replaced an earlier structure that was demolished in 1807 and was the seat of the Blount family.
