Description
Lower Moorend Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of dark mottled local brick and features a plain tiled roof with end stacks. The building has three storeys and a dentilled eaves cornice. It consists of three bays, with all windows having cambered heads. There are two 3-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, and three 3-light casement windows on the second floor. A central gabled brick porch includes a square light in the front gable end and a ledged and battened door on the right side. The interior has not been inspected. At the rear, there are two-storey wings and a mid-20th century flat-roofed glazed porch. The unique dark colour of the brick is attributed to the high coal content in the underlying soil.
