Description

High House is an early 18th-century house, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of handmade brick with a plain tiled roof, featuring parapets to the gabled ends and brick stacks with offsets. The house has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar. The front elevation has a chamfered plinth, a string course at first floor and eaves level, while the side and rear elevations feature three-course brick bands at similar levels. It has three bays; the ground floor windows are two 3-light casements in the outer bays, while the first floor has five windows – two 2-light casements in the central and outer bays, and two blind windows. A 19th-century gabled timber porch and door are centrally positioned. The interior remains uninspected. A 19th-century rear wing has been added. The building is prominently situated in the village centre.
