Description

Bank House is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. The structure is part timber-framed with painted brick infill, replacement walling, and refacing, and features painted brick with machine-tiled roofs. It consists of two framed bays aligned north to south and has a large chimney with a brick ridge stack at the south gable end, which is enclosed by a 19th-century single-bay addition. There is also a single-bay addition at the north gable end that includes an external gable end chimney, believed to have been converted from a former outbuilding. The building is partly single storey with an attic that has dormers, and partly two storeys.

On the west front elevation, the ground floor has two 2-light casements, a 3-light casement, and two 20th-century bay windows, one in each addition. There are three gabled dormers with 2-light casements and a 2-light first floor casement in the south addition. The main entrance is located at the centre of the original part, featuring a 20th-century hipped brick porch with a central door flanked by leaded lights, as well as leaded lights in the side elevation. Inside, there are large stop-chamfered main ceiling beams, and the roof in the original part is said to be intact. The building is also noted to have been used as a cider house in the 19th century.
