Description

The Grove and the adjoining outbuilding are a house and outbuilding dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The main structure is timber-framed, featuring painted brick infill on a rubble base, with some brick replacement walling and a corrugated iron roof. The house consists of two framed bays oriented roughly north to south and has an external brick chimney with tiled offsets at the southern end. It is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers. The framing displays three rows of square panels from the sill to the wall plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. No trusses are visible from the outside.

On the west front elevation, there are two ground floor 19th-century casement windows with two lights each, along with two raking-top 20th-century dormers that also have 2-light casements. A partly-glazed 20th-century door is located in the north bay. At the southern end of the house, there is a single-storey service wing. The outbuilding, located at the north end, is also timber-framed with rendered infill, partly weather-boarded, and has a corrugated iron roof. It consists of one framed bay and likely has two levels. The framing features two rows of square panels, with no end roof truss visible. A ledged and battened door is present on the west elevation.
