Description
The Town Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 17th century. It features a timber-frame structure that has been partly rebuilt with red brick infill and has a plain tiled roof. The building has an irregular U-plan, with a central hall and projecting wings at each end. It stands two storeys high, with cellars and garrets in the wings.
The farmhouse has three bays; the left section is rebuilt in brick with mock timber-framing in the gable and has a single three-light casement window on each floor. The recessed centre showcases timber-frame construction on a brick base, with three-light casement windows and a late 19th-century porch located in the re-entrant angle. The right wing projects on a stone plinth and is jettied, featuring straight braces in the frame, a sash window on the ground floor, and a two-light casement window above, along with 19th-century decorative bargeboards.
