Description
The walls, railings, gate piers, and gates to the Main Lodge at Abberley Park were constructed around 1883, likely designed by J P St Aubyn for J J Jones of Abberley Hall. The structure features wrought iron gates and railings, sandstone piers, and rubble walls. The central ornamental gates display the Jones monogram and are flanked by panelled gate piers topped with crested designs, square conical and gadrooned finials, and cast metal statuettes of two boys and a bird. There are also outer pedestrian gates and smaller outer gate piers that are similar to the central ones, with low stepped serpentine walls on each side that terminate in similar piers and are topped with decorative railings.
