Description
The walls, railings, gates, and gate piers by Elbatch Lodge date from around 1883 and are possibly designed by J P St Aubyn for J J Jones of Abberley Hall. The central feature is a set of ornamental wrought iron gates that display the Jones monogram. These gates are flanked by panelled ashlar gate piers, which have crested tops and squat domical and gadrooned finials. On either side, there are outer pedestrian gates and smaller outer gate piers that are similar in design to the central ones. Low rubble serpentine walls extend from each side, terminating in similar piers. The walls are stepped at intervals and topped with decorative wrought iron railings.
