Description
The piers, walls, gates, and railings at East Lodge in Hermitage Park are likely from the early 20th century and are designed in a late 17th century style. The structure features ashlar walls and piers, along with wrought-iron gates and railings. There are two tall gate piers with moulded plinths and single sunk panels on each face. The piers have corniced caps that break back at the corners and are topped with enriched stone urns. Smaller end piers, which do not have urns, are similar in design. The walls are flat-coped and serpentine in shape, linking the piers. The large gates are adorned with interlinked scrolls and elaborate crests, while the curved railings display similar scrollwork.
