Description

SO 76 NW ROCK CP Westcroft Cottages

7/305

  • II

Farmhouse, presently disused. Late C16 or early Cl7. Partly timber-framed and brick-nogged, and partly replaced in red brick to south and east; plain tiled roofs with brick stack towards west end of ridge. Main range aligned east-west, with cross-wing aligned north-south at west end. North front: two storeys with scattered fenestration, difficult to estimate because of the derelict state of the building. South front: scattered fenestration with one window in gable to left and three gabled dormers equally spaced on main range to right. Two door- ways on this front, missing doors at time of resurvey. Lean-to extension pro- jecting to north at left-hand end of north front. Interior: not wholly inspected due to condition of building but noted as containing a rubble stone stack rising to brick at approximately roof-level, timber-framed cross-walls and chamfered spine-beams to ground-floor rooms. The building was in a derelict condition on inspection (February 1987 ).
