Description
Lower Snead Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with mid-18th century and some mid-20th century alterations. It is constructed of timber-frame with painted brick infill and features a tile roof. The building has three framed bays oriented east to west, with an 18th-century addition to the east. There is a central stack and a lobby-entry accessed through an 18th-century porch.
The south front has two storeys with an attic, which is lit by casements in two gables. The ground and first floors have plank weatherings, and the central porch features an attic that is also lit by a casement in the gable. The entrance has a wooden doorcase with an open pediment, a semi-elliptical fanlight that is radially glazed, and a six flush panelled door. On either side of the porch, there are three-light casements on each floor. The framing consists of four square panels high with straight angle braces.
