Description
The Snead is a house that dates from the late 17th century and was extended in the early 18th century, with later alterations in the late 19th century and some in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of brick and has a tiled roof, featuring external gable end stacks.
The south front, which faces the garden, has two storeys and an attic that is illuminated by two gabled dormers. The building is divided into two parts; the left part is the later addition, while the right part features a band with dentils at the first floor and a dog tooth pattern at the ground floor, along with a brick coped verge. There is a central projection, likely a porch with a shaped gable, which contains three windows that are timber cross-windows. The ground floor has a 2-light casement window under a segmental head in the porch, and there is probably a blocked doorway. The left part also has a band on each floor and two timber cross-windows. The entrance on the ground floor to the right features a four-panelled door with a radially glazed fanlight.
Inside, the staircase is an open well design with turned balusters and a close, moulded string.
