Description
New Purchase Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 15th century, with a refacing in the late 17th century and some alterations from the 19th century. The building is timber framed and mostly covered in late 17th-century red and grey brick arranged in a mixed bond, with the upper courses renewed and the right end bay made of 19th-century gault brick. The rear elevation features 19th-century flint at the ground floor level, with tile-hanging above. The roof is covered with plain tiles and is hipped to the left. The farmhouse has two storeys and includes a dentilled brick eaves cornice. There is a small multiple brick ridge stack towards the left end and a truncated rendered stack projecting from the right end. The windows display irregular fenestration, consisting of three 3-light 19th-century casements, with the ground-floor windows having segmental heads. A boarded door is located beneath the stack. There is a lean-to structure on the left side, which continues partway along the rear and is integrated with the 17th-century work. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported to contain substantial beams and a crown-post.
