Description

Berllandeg Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was remodeled in the mid-18th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a timber frame with red brick infill and red brick on a high chamfered rubblestone plinth, topped with slate roofs that are hipped at the front.

The building has a U-shaped plan, consisting of a main range and two seemingly earlier gabled ranges at the rear. The right gabled range includes a two-storey brick outshut from the 18th century. The farmhouse stands two storeys high, with a floor band that runs around the sides.

The front has three windows, featuring glazing bar sashes—16 panes on the ground floor and in the center on the first floor—replacing earlier infilled windows, traces of which are still visible. There is a central entrance with a recessed 20th-century pine door and a rectangular overlight above. To the right, there is a large stepped external end stack with paired and rebated shafts, while the rear is flush with the outshut of the gabled wing. An integral brick end stack is located to the left. A wedge-shaped datestone, which is illegible, is positioned directly below the eaves at the center.

The rear gables have been rendered to the attics, featuring projecting single-purlin ends. The left gabled range has an infilled segmental-headed doorway leading to the outshut, which has a late 20th-century casement inserted, along with a rubblestone and brick lean-to against the outshut at the rear.

The interior was not inspected at the time of the last survey in May 1986, but it is likely to be of interest.
