Description

This milestone, located on Thomas Telford's Holyhead Road, dates from 1826-1827. It is made of Red Wharf Bay limestone and features a cast iron panel. The milestone is situated just north of where the road crosses the Llangollen Canal, on the west side of the road.

The design tapers from the bottom to the top, culminating in a pointed head. The recessed cast iron panel on the front displays the following text: HOLY-/ HEAD/ 85 - M/ SALOP/ 21 M - 6 F.
