Description

The Grange is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century. It is timber framed with brick infill and has a plain tile roof. The building is two storeys high. The entrance front features, on the far right, a gabled projecting wing with a jettied first floor and gable. There is a central three-light casement window on the ground floor, flanked by two sections of small framing. Moulded brackets support the first floor's moulded bressumer. Above, a central three-light 19th-century casement window is set in close studding on the first floor. The jettied gable has small framing and is also supported by moulded brackets. To the left of the gable, there are 19 sections of small framing, with some brickwork painted to simulate timber framing due to a fire in this century. The ground floor includes two three-light windows, one two-light window, and one single light window. The re-entrant angle between the right wing and the main body of the building has a 19th-century half-glazed door with a lean-to porch. A chimney stack is located at the left of centre, while a large brick chimney stack is positioned at the left of the right-hand return.

Inside, there are chamfered ceiling beams on the ground floor that have been brought from elsewhere. The parlour features one ovolo moulded beam and an inglenook fireplace with a chamfered bressumer and cupboards on either side. Another ground floor room has an ovolo moulded ceiling beam, and some small framing is present on the internal walls.
