Description
This is a detached kitchen and dairy that is located at the rear of Cob House Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th century, with some alterations and additions made in the 20th century. The building is timber-framed with painted brick infill and has brick replacement walling. It features a half-hipped, tiled roof and a rebuilt brick stack on the east roof pitch. The structure consists of two framed bays and is a single storey with an attic.
The framing includes square panels, with three panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, and long straight braces in the lower corners. The gable ends have queen strut trusses.
On the east elevation, there are two ground floor windows, and to the right bay, there is a small, gabled brick extension that includes a planked door. To the left, beneath the chimney, there is an outshut with a bread oven. The gable ends feature attic lights.
Inside, the roof has an intermediate queen strut truss and trenched purlins. The bay at the north end was previously used as a dairy. A 20th-century extension on the west elevation connects the building to the farmhouse.
