Description
This barn, located approximately 25 metres south of Cromer Farmhouse, is possibly from the 16th century. It features a cruck frame with walls made of weatherboarded timber framing and a slate roof. The north side, which faces the farmhouse, has brick lean-to additions on either side of a central entrance. The interior, which was not fully accessible during the survey in April 1986, appears to consist of five bays. The truss to the east of the threshing floor is fully visible and has a high collar, no tie-beam, and spurs to the wall-posts. Wattle holes in the wall-plates indicate that the original infill was likely made of wattle-and-daub.
