Description

Hill Court Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with evidence of earlier remains. It is constructed of timber framing and brick, with a tile roof, and is arranged in a T-shaped plan. The east wing exhibits exposed timber framing in square panels on its north and east sides, featuring three 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor and two on the first floor. A door is located to the right of the second window. The east gable wall of this wing displays an exposed roof truss with a tie-beam, collar, and vertical struts. The east wall of the north wing contains a single ground-floor window and two first-floor windows. The north gable wall is obscured by a single-storey lean-to addition. The roof truss in the north gable has vertical struts, a tie-beam, two collars, and V-struts above the upper collar. The west wall of this wing is brick on the right and has a timber-framed gable on the left, featuring a truss similar to that in the north gable. A chimney is situated on the ridge of the north wing, near the junction with the east wing. Inside, an internal wall in the north wing contains a cruck truss with a tie-beam and two collars, along with a doorway with a canted head. This wing also contains a brick inglenook with a bressummer. The property was formerly marked on Ordnance Survey maps as Hill Farm.
