5/46 Barn about 15 yards north-west of the Church of St Peter and St Paul

GV II

Barn. Mid-C18 with mid-C19 alterations. Part brick, part timber-framed with some weatherboarding and some wattle infill; plain tiled roof. Seven bays aligned east/west; wagon bay with opposed double doors situated second from east end; adjacent bays have header ventilation courses. Main south elevation: four westernmost bays have a rectangular opening and three doors. Interior: eastern end has two rows of square panels and south elevation has rectangular panels to upper part of wall; collar and tie-beam trusses with raking struts and a single tier of trenched purlins. Western part is floored. There is a brick and rubble lean-to addition at the west gable end. This large barn adjoins the churchyard of the Church of St Peter and St Paul (qv) and there is a strong visual link between the two buildings, particularly from the main northern approach.
