GV II

Barn and stable. Late C18 barn and mid-C19 stable addition. Brick with dentilled eaves cornice, tiled roofs with parapets at gable ends and between barn and stable. Barn 3 bays; central wagon bay with opposed square-headed cart entries. Blocked ventilation slits and some diaper ventilation patterns in east gable end wall. South elevation has a planked door in each outer bay. Interior Double, trenched purlins, 2 raking struts from tie-beam to lower purlins, collar between upper purlins. Door through to house in west gable end wall. Stable Single bay structure. Planked doors in north and south elevations. At east gable end steps lead up to planked door into hayloft. Beneath steps is a narrow, round-arched entrance with 3 progressively smaller round-headed archways inside possibly for restricting the movement of an animal whilst undergoing treatment. Interior stall partitions removed. In west gable end wall are 3 blind windows, 2 ground floor and one in apex, all with moulded stone keyblocks. This would originally have been the external gable end wall of the barn.
