Description

Moorfields Farmhouse and the adjoining stable and granary are a farmhouse complex dating from the 17th century, with a late 18th century addition and mid-19th century alterations. The structure is partly timber-framed with rendered infill and brick refacing, as well as some brick sections, all topped with machine-tiled roofs. The original farmhouse consists of two framed bays oriented north to south, with a tall single-bay brick addition at the south gable end. The building is part two storeys with an attic.

On the west front elevation, the original section features two 2-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, along with a ledged and battened door to the left. The 18th century addition includes a 2-light casement on each floor, a gabled brick porch to the left with a ledged and battened door, an attic light in the right gable end, and a large stack at the rear of the ridge. The granary is attached to the left gable end of the timber-framed section and is in an L-plan layout from the 19th century, consisting of two levels with a round-headed opening and a loft door with external steps on the front elevation. The west return to the left has a round-headed opening at the angle with the main part. A detailed inspection of the building was not possible at the time of the survey in September 1985.
