Description
Drayton House is a country house dating from the early 18th century, with some alterations from the mid-19th century and late 20th century. It is constructed of brick with painted stone dressings and features a hipped tile roof. The garden front, which faces southwest, has two storeys and an attic, illuminated by three gabled dormers. It includes a moulded sandstone plinth, painted stone quoins, and a moulded stone cornice. There are seven windows, which are boxed 15-pane sashes set under rubbed brick heads with keystones. The ground floor has a central entrance featuring a pilastered wooden doorcase with a shallow flat canopy, an overlight, and a 20th-century two-leaf glazed door. The side fronts have bands at the ground floor level.
Inside, the main staircase is notable for its turned balusters, moulded handrail, and closed string, while the back stair features splat balusters. The sitting room, located to the right on the garden front, has bolection moulded rectangular panelling.
