Description
This is a circa 1800 house, now used as offices and a store. It is located on the south side of Castle Street in Tipton, Sandwell. The building is constructed of brick in Flemish bond with stone dressings, and has a hipped slate roof. The main block is symmetrical, with two storeys and three bays. It has sash windows with glazing bars, stone sills, and lintels featuring false chamfered voussoirs and keystones. The entrance is through an eight-panelled door set within a doorcase featuring panelled reveals, engaged Tuscan columns, paterae, and an open pediment with a fanlight. Dentilled eaves run along the top of the building, and chimneys project from the ridge at both ends.
To the left of the main block is a lower two-storey wing containing two bays. The right-hand ground-floor window has a lintel with chamfered false voussoirs. A later addition covers the left-hand bay on the ground floor. A blank recess sits between the first-floor windows of the main block, and a chimney is located on the left-hand gable and between the bays.
