Description
The Offices of Pilkington's Ravenhead Works is a building that dates back to around 1773. Originally a house, it now serves as offices. The structure is made of brick with stone dressings and features slate roofs. The main block consists of three storeys and six bays, with a lower two-storey, three-bay block on the left and an end three-bay block with a pediment.
The main block has a top cornice and windows with gauged-brick flat arches, most of which are sashed and without glazing bars. The wall at the ground floor of the first two bays has been rebuilt. The central entrance features a 20th-century glass screen and a bowed porch supported by Doric columns, with a panelled frieze, cornice, and blocking course.
To the left, the three bays have a rebuilt wall with 20th-century windows beneath the original cornice. The end block also has a rebuilt ground floor wall with 20th-century windows, while the first-floor windows have flat arches and casements, along with a stone band above. The building includes three blind roundels and a blind roundel in the pediment, as well as an octagonal cupola with round-arched openings on Tuscan columns. Some brick stacks are present but truncated.
