Description
The building is a tank house located beside the canal at the Crown Glass Works, constructed in 1883. It is made of brick and features a slate roof, presenting a rectangular gabled shape. The east facade is characterized by weathered buttresses positioned between deep battered buttresses, while the west facade shows the truncated remains of similar deep battered buttresses. The south gable end has blocked segmental headed windows above a large entrance, along with a blocked round window in the gable. An oval cone rises through the roof. A plaque on the building notes that the first glass tank began operation here in 1887. Although the interior was not inspected, it is reported to contain cast iron columns that support the cone and the former Siemens reverberatory tank furnace.
