Description

This is a house, now used as offices, built around 1780, with an addition constructed around 1800. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings, and the gable on the right-hand side is rendered. The roofs are covered in concrete tiles and pantiles. The building has a plinth, a sill band to the ground floor, a band to the first floor, modillion eaves and a pediment. The main block features a projecting, pedimented central section with three windows. It is three storeys high, with a five-window range of plain sash windows on the upper floors and five 20th-century tilting casements above. On the ground floor, a central doorcase is framed by Doric columns and has an entablature with a dentillated pediment. The doorcase has a recessed fielded six-panel door with an overlight. There are two windows on either side of the doorcase; all ground-floor windows have flat arches. The two-storey addition on the right has a single sash window with glazing bars, and two similar sashes below. Inside, a four-flight open-well staircase has a ramped and scrolled handrail and vase and stem balusters. The ground floor front room boasts an enriched, dentillated cornice and a moulded doorcase. Numerous fielded six-panel doors are present throughout.
