Description
12 and 14 Middlegate are two houses that have been converted into an office. They date from the early 18th century and have undergone alterations in the late 19th century and late 20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick, with the front being roughcast and colorwashed, while the left gable is rendered. They feature a steeply pitched pantile roof, a first-floor band on the left gable, coped gables, and a single gable stack. The structure is two storeys high with garrets and has a two-window range of glazing bar sashes. Below, there are two replica late 19th-century wooden shopfronts with brackets supporting the fascias. To the left, there is a splayed recessed doorway, and to the right, two single-pane windows. The left gable has a small casement window to the left, with a 20th-century two-light casement window above it in the gable. At the rear, there is a full-width lean-to addition.
