Description
No 101 on Gough Road is a detached, two-storey, four-bay Italianate villa built around 1845-1850. The villa features a plinth, rusticated quoins, and an applied parapet at the first floor, where the coping also serves as a sill course. There is a bed mould to the frieze with panelled metopes that alternate with modillion console brackets at the flat eaves of the gable end slate roof. The two inner windows are set closer together, with a porch located below the right-hand first floor window. The first floor windows have architrave surrounds, while the ground floor windows have panelled flanking strips and panelled heads, which are flanked by scrolled consoles over the cornices. The left-hand ground floor window is tripartite but has blind side lights. The villa's ornate Corinthian porch features fluted columns, a deep entablature, a dentil cornice, and a panelled parapet. The entrance includes deep panelled reveals and a soffit to a four-panel door with an arched fanlight.
