Description
No 103 Gough Road is a detached stucco villa built between 1835 and 1840, showcasing rich late Grecian architectural details that precede the rest of the street. The villa is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay front, highlighted by a giant order of fluted Corinthian pilasters with large capitals that rise from a plinth. It features a deep frieze, a projecting cornice, and a parapet adorned with panels of blind linked 'portholes' aligned with the window bays. The large sash windows are framed with architraves and have consoles at the sills; the right-hand window has been altered to a pilastered canted bay. The central entrance boasts a six-panel, two-leaf door with a rectangular fanlight set in panelled reveals, framed by a broad architrave decorated with rosettes. Above the entrance is a projecting cornice and a scrolled pediment featuring acroteria and an anthemion motif. To the south, there is a set-back service wing, which is screened by a swept wall that contains coach house doors.
