Description

Nos 41 and 43 Church Street are a pair of buildings constructed in 1900 by T W F Newton and Cheatle, designed in an Arts and Crafts style. They are built from brick and stone and consist of three storeys plus a basement. The façade features three bays, with the outer two bays adorned with broken segmental pediments.

On the ground floor, there is a central entrance that has been altered and is accessed by steps. Flanking the entrance are two broad, shallow bow windows that are corbelled out over the basement. These bow windows rise through the first and second floors and are topped with almost Chinese ogee caps. Above the entrance, there is a shallow stone bow window with a transom end, followed by a stone storey with canted sides, which includes a two-light window and an elaborate cornice.
